For Aspect, she chose a combination of new and older work. The first two find Welitoff working with found footage. Color dominates. The last two are of her friends that she directed, shot, and digitally altered. Lia Gangitano describes her video portraits as elongated fragments of action, extended close-ups of character's faces in the midst of minor exchanges that insist on their own significance. Her acute attention, slowed down and sometimes reversing, presents intimate portraits of characters whose fleeting presence, absent of completed narrative, seeks to reveal more about the complexities of people.
